Great day for Great Strides

Today was a great day to reunite with my Longest Game 4 CF teammates and supporters as we joined numerous others in the annual Great Strides  5K walk, Canada’s largest national fundraising event for Cystic Fibrosis. We spent this morning catching up as we walked through Queen's Park in New Westminster,  while raising awareness and money for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Our team, Team LG4CF LaceBites, surpassed our $1,000 goal and raised $1,415.

So far, the event has raised over $2,097,584 .

It was so nice to reconnect with my teammates again and with some of the LG4CF volunteers and supporters, including CF families that came to boost our spirits during the Longest Game. I was so happy to see Des and Anne Burke, my former coworkers, who also volunteered during the LG4CF.

Although she didn't participate on our team, former LG4CF player Katrina was there walking for her brother's team "Dustin the Wind" with the newest (and adorable) team member. Her brother Dustin was also one of our "DJs" and volunteers during the Longest game.

Before the walk started, we were treated to the very talented Hip Hop Group "Freshh", who performed a dance routine to get us motivated.  If you are a fan of "Canada's Got Talent", then you would know that they were among the top 3 Finalists. One of the members, Ryan, was unable to perform today as he was in the hospital for his annual CF check up. Here is my attempt at capturing their performance:

Here's a few more pictures:

Thank you to all the volunteers and supporters for making today such a great day. And Thank you to our LG4CF LaceBites Team Captain Tricia for getting us all organized!

 See you next year!
