Just 14 more days (or more precisely 13 days, 22 hours) before the Longest Game. I keep asking myself if I am ready. I have been working on getting back in the skates with the stick in hand and prepping my body to endure the marathon of hockey that I am about to embark on. I am not a morning person and getting up early in the morning before work to get on the treadmill is tough, not to mention getting up at 6:30 in the morning on Sunday for my Power skating and hockey skills session.
On those tough to get out of bed mornings or work out procrastinations, I remind myself why I am doing this. Because I am fortunate to be able to. It should no longer be that "I have to" but that "I get to". Not everyone is able to participate in the things that we sometimes take for granted.
To demonstrate this further, I wanted to share this video with you which I found on the 65 Red Roses Live chat. It is a short video edited by Justin, who was Eva Markvoort's boyfriend. It is a pretty powerful motivator...
A message from Eva
(Eva is the lovely woman on our LG4CF posters and this event is a tribute to her and everyone affected by cystic fibrosis)
