This morning I was all set to do my workout but after 5 minutes I noticed that Karma was quite intrigued by something on the wall at the bottom of the stairs. I hopped off the treadmill to take a look and caught her just before she decided to bite at the wasp that was there. As I looked up, another wasp was flying around the light fixture. I went back to the treadmill to grab my workout towel, and then I noticed another 4 wasps flying around the light in the work out room. The light and heat definitely awoke the dormant invaders.
Unfortunately I ended up spending my workout time this morning involved in a wasp relocation program - well, at least that is how it started out until they weren't too cooperative and I had to take a firmer stance (aka- a towel thumping). I checked the rest of the basement but thankfully I could not find anymore. The only spot that I could see as the entry point is the small hole to our external heat pump.
This afternoon after work I went outside and plugged up the hole by the heat pump. There were some wasps flying around a few feet away and as I moved closer, I noticed the nest by the fence. I'll leave the nest for another day (or for my husband) - for now, fingers crossed that they stay outside and I don't get anymore workout interruptions.
